Please email me for a puppy questionnaire to be sent to you.  You can copy and paste in your document program or write the answers by the corresponding numbers or write a  paragraph or two answering the questions.  I need to know what you are looking for and why I should consider you for one of my puppies.

Our puppy program

At MistyWoods Labradors we believe in the TRUE all purpose Labrador Retriever. Our Labradors compete in hunt tests, conformation shows, agility trials, and obedience trials, but, first and foremost, they are our beloved family pets. Health, temperament, trainability, and conforming to the AKC breed standard are the qualities we hold high. Each breeding here at MistyWoods is carefully researched and planned in the hopes to produce high quality Labradors. All of our Labradors have their final OFA Hip/Elbow clearances as well as annual eye exams. Every puppy is born and raised right here in our heated/cooled kennel made to be like home. I sleep in the same room with mother and puppies for the first  week of their lives.

We do the rule of seven program with our puppies. By the time a puppy is 7 weeks old it should have: Been on 7 different surfaces, such as: carpet, concrete, wood, vinyl, grass, dirt, gravel, wood chips, newspaper, etc. Played with 7 different types of objects, such as: big balls, small balls, soft fabric toys, fuzzy balls, squeaky toys, metal items, wooden items, paper/cardboard items, milk/soda jugs, etc. Been in 7 different locations, including: front yard, backyard, basement, kitchen, car, garage, laundry room, bathroom, crate, kennel, etc. Been exposed to 7 challenges, such as: climbed a box, climbed off a box, gone through a tunnel, climbed up steps, climbed down steps, climbed over obstacles, played hide and seek, gone in and out of a doorway with a step, etc. Eaten from 7 different containers: metal, plastic, cardboard, paper, china, pie plate, frying pan, etc. Eaten in 7 different locations: crate, yard, kitchen, basement, laundry room, bedroom, x-pen, etc. Met and played with 7 new people, including children and the elderly.

As weather permits, our puppies are introduced to water. Because we believe in an all purpose Labrador, all of our puppies are introduced to gun fire and feathers before they leave our home. We provide our puppies with what we feel to be the best start to their lives. health, temperament, proper conformation, and trainability are the factors which influence our breeding program.

A $500 deposit will hold the puppy along with a submitted puppy questionnaire. Please email me for the questionnaire to be sent to you via email.  Our current price for puppies are $2500

What comes with your puppy

Misty Wood’s puppies will come with a limited AKC registration and a puppy kit which includes a sample of their food, a toy, and a folder with helpful information for your new puppy. They also come with a copy of the parent’s clearance tests and pedigrees. The puppies will be wormed at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks of age and have their first puppy vaccine around 6-7 weeks old. They will be registered with AKC and microchipped (registered with AKC Reunite) by me for the new owner. The puppies will be examined by a veterinarian at 6 -7 weeks of age and receive their first puppy vaccine. Puppy picks will be made according to the family’s needs and desires of their labrador puppy based on the answers on the puppy questionnaire and the puppy’s personality. If there are similar personalities then the picks are in the order of the deposits. It is important to match the right puppy to the right family. Please note that all puppy picks are after the breeder(s) choices are made. The breeder always gets first picks and sometimes this decision is not made until the puppies are 6 to 8 weeks old.

Pick up/transport

You are more than welcome to come visit the puppies by appointment only. Pick up dates must be made with in a week of the puppy turning 8 weeks old. After that time there will be a boarding charge for your puppy. I can ship puppies but can meet within 3-4 hours for a fee at a rate of $65 per hour travel time from my farm to the meeting location. So to meet at St Louis airport it will be $260 or Springfield airport it would be $195. This arrangement must be made ahead of time and must not interfere with my work schedule or any puppy picks already scheduled to pick up at my farm. I can fly the puppy with a local shipping company that fly the puppy out of St Louis. This will run $500 to $600 depending on size of the puppy and the puppy must be 8 weeks old. I need to know if I have to fly the puppy a couple weeks ahead of planned time to schedule a vet visit to have proper paperwork and vaccines for flying. I can make suggestions for some ground transportation company's but it will be up to the new puppy owner to set this up. I do have a ground transport company I like to use and they do east coast and midwest deliveries but you have to be flexible with their schedule because of weather and traffic conditions. This runs about $650 to $750.
